Dust mites are pretty tough. They will not be killed by normal washing in cold or warm water. Only washing in really hot water at 140 degrees F or above or drying your laundry at 140 degrees F for at least 30 minutes will kill dust-mites.

Now there is an alternative to washing your bedding in extra-hot water. Just 3/4 ounce of De-Mite in hot, warm or cold water will kill mites and their allergen in your bedding or clothing. Detergent alone won't solve the mite problem in your laundry, but De-Mite's active ingredients will eliminate them with each wash.

Use this laundry additive along with your regular detergent to remove allergens in your bedding, clothing and other washable fabrics in all wash temperatures. Only 3/4 oz. is necessary to rid your laundry load of dust mite allergens, one of the single greatest sources of allergies. The active ingredients in De-Mite do the work, yet you can continue to use your favorite detergent. Available in an 8 oz. bottle (11-12 wash loads) or 1 liter bottle (45-50 wash loads).

Note that De-Mite uses Tea Tree oil as one of its active ingredients. This imparts a reasonably pleasant scent to your wash that many people may not mind. However, many fragrance and chemically sensitive people may not be able to tolerate this product. We suggest this ONLY for those who have allergies but are not sensitive to fragrances.
